update :)

hi guys!
just doing a general update.... i don't have much 'made' stuff to show, as all of what i'm working on is unfinished... so i'd rather wait for a big blog of finished things!
my legwarmers are coming along nicely, as is my little brown crop cardi. and the crochet scarf for my friend is still going quite slow. i'm just taking it to my knitting group to work on, as it wont be scarf weather here for a while! it's boiling!!!

thought i'd show you all a couple of new things i own.

My brother recently came back from his honeymoon, and got me some M&M hair clips

love them! i just wear them as brooches too, and just clip them to my clothes. I also have a new cardigan, which was another present (gotta love presents!) :

how cute is all the detail? as soon as i saw the house and tree's, i knew i had to have it! So thank you for that mummy :)
i've been getting in to scarves for my hair lately, and picked up this vintage bargain a couple of days ago from a charity shop:

it helps keep the hair off my face in this heat! as well as protecting my head from the sun. i got a sunburned scalp last summer.... it's not nice!
OK, next newbie:

new shirt! not very clear, but it's pink and white stripes. despite my love for knitwear, sometimes it's just too warm to cover up with a cardigan, so this is perfect. light and thin :)

and this apron, a present from my Australian aunt, is just perfect. a cupcake apron for when i bake cupcakes! 

i took a trip to Ikea yesterday (love that place) and saw this sofa!

how cute? a knitted birdie print. i have plans to move out with the boyfriend at some point soon, so this is a MUST! (i'm sure he wont mind) . they do a range of sofa's that have changeable covers, this being one of the covers... brilliant!

New Dress Makeover!

So, I found the cutest dress in our local cheapo shop (i wont name names... ok i will, primark!) for £5. I HAD to own it. The only problem i had with it were the ugly buttons :S (see pictures below):

see? they're the cheapest, plastic, gold buttons ever. gross!
soooo.... I thought I'd show you all how i changed it in to a cutie vintage looking dress...

step one: take off the awful buttons (if anyone wants them by the way, I'm happy to give them away).
step two: find some lovely buttons:

these are vintage buttons from the 60's. one of them is odd... which is a shame, but what can you do? it's coloured in gold instead of yellow, but i think it only adds to the charm.

step three: sew on new buttons:

step four: show off :P

ETSY gathering

Yesterday evening i popped along to the Etsy gathering at the Bluecoat in Liverpool. It was a great turn out and we had lots of creative fun (and goodie bags too!). Here are a couple of the cute stalls there: Purlesque being the cutest!!

the knitting corner was my favourite (obviously) and as well as regular knitting, we all had a go at, what i called, extreme crochet. crochet with washing line rope. a bit rough on the hands, but fun.

I think they plan to make it a regular thing! let's hope so!

It's not often i buy knitting books these days, with so many great patterns available online. but, i HAD to purchase the latest Rowan Studio book, issue 19. The following photo's will explain everything:

these are going to take rather a long time! but i've got till winter at least! also, but with no picture, i've started a scarf for a friend, Chris. recently he brought round a massive amount of wool for me, which he rescued from getting binned. He doesn't know about his scarf present yet, it'll be a surprise!

i've been busy reading too. i've started a Stephen Fry book (i LOVE Stephen fry) and i've got Vanity Fair to read after that, thanks nan! my nan is always shocked to hear that i haven't read 'the classics' such as vanity fair. so she's forcing it upon me. i've read the first couple of pages, it's quite good so far!!

more things!

OK, as promised, here are some more bits and bobs that have been going on lately!

first of all, some embroidery I (Sarah teapot) did for a recent exhibition in Liverpool CUC gallery. The tattoo exhibition is really cool, and it's still going on, so go down and see it!

I've really got in to embroidery lately, so watch this space for more creations!

in other news, my brother got married last week

and here's me and the boyfriend all ready to go, aren't we cute:

A couple of days ago, the Purlesque knitting circle (that i attend on Tuesday evenings) got involved with the Lord Mayor's parade in Liverpool. It was a lovely day, and loads of people came to see us. This is me ready for the parade, with a massive ball of wool on my back! i wanted to keep it but i couldn't :(

Coming home from the parade, I was hungry, so i got baking as soon as i came in. These vegan cookie scones are delicious! i've eaten them all already! I skipped on the lemon and just made plain ones. Yum yum yums!
