A sneaky peek!

The new Penelope Teapot cross stitch kit is nearly ready!  Do you want a sneaky peek?? Ok... here it is....

New Cross Stitch Kit

I'll let you all know when it's up for sale.  I think it's my favourite one so far!  I do have other's available HERE.

We went to the beach for Robi's birthday!  It was lovely.  I felt like I was on holiday!  Here he is digging a hole in the sand.

Digging
Sand Dunes!

Remember me making felt pansies and knitted roses?   They're for a banner which will be used in my mum's church.  We meet every week and do some sewing and eat cake.  Here it is so far:

Window box banner
Felt flowers and leaves
Close up of crochet flowers

It will be used next year for a flower festival coming to the city, and then used in the church for ever after that.  We still have another one to make, which I think it going to be Bird and Cherry blossom themed.

Hands up anyone who owns a pair of Toms shoes?  They are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned.  I have the plan vegan ones... and I'm rather keen on these new ones too!  I think they look like little balls of wool!

Cute Toms

This is the 2nd of my 2 days off work, then I'm in for 10 days straight (NOT EXCITED ABOUT THAT).  So over the last 2 days I've watched the film Audition, finished reading my Bret 'Hitman' Hart book, done some essential shopping and I'm about to watch 'The Castle of Calglistro' which is a Hayao Miyazaki film (my Robi buys me good presents!)
Bret Hart, my favourite wrestler.  Reading the book, I loved him, hated him, then by the end I loved him again.  The best autobiography I've ever read.
Audition.  Weird film.  It's one of the boyfriend's favourites, so I finally got round to watching it.  It's a Japanese film and it's pretty good.  I thought it'd give me nightmares but it didn't, so 2 thumbs up!

I'm so excited for the new Studio Ghibli film: Arrietty (of the Borrowers of Arrietty).  I can't believe they're not showing it anywhere in Liverpool, and I'm going to have to travel out to Manchester to see it.  But i will travel for Ghibli if i need to!

Wednesday wantings (9)

Wednesday wantings: 9

  1. Brilliant owl tshirt
  2. Owl necklace
  3. Apple bird feeder
  4. Flask/Thermos
  5. Dino tshirt
  6. Nautical cardigan
  7. Leopard print shoes
I need a new flask for work.  (no 4) I have no idea what happened to my Ikea one, but I'd love to get my hands on a vintage one like this.
I'm so close to ordering the owl tshirt (no 1).  Do I have enough tshirts?  I probably do, but I'm keen on another Topshop (tee and cake) tshirt too.  Why do they keep coming up with irresistible designs aimed at me!?
I'm loving all the birds in my garden at the moment.  Even though they wake me up every day!  I like to think of my little garden as a safe place for them.... no naughty cats!  We had blackbirds nesting in our tree last year, it was brilliant.  This bird feeder from M&S is a great idea (no 3).  Just stick an apple on and you're done!

Cakey post

I'm sat here right now eating a vegan strawberry cheesecake.  It's sooooo good.  I haven't eaten cheesecake in years, but I found this one today in Holland and Barret.  It's called 'Mama Cucina Vegan Strawberry Cheesecake.'  It's very naughty, but delicious.  I also had pancakes for lunch... today is not a healthy day!

Here are some other cool cakey things I've seen lately:

Fried peanut butter and jam (jello) cake.  OMG indeed, this sounds like the ultimate pudding.  Recipe here. NEED TO TRY THIS!

Cute felt baking kit.  100% fat free and 100% cute.

Crochet Granny Square cookies.  YAY.  I must do these for my next knitting get together.

In non-cake related news.  I went to see Harry Potter at the cinema.  I loved it.  I want to be Luna Lovegood when I grow up.  It was tradition that I go and see every Harry Potter film with my brother, so we went last Friday night.  It was so sad, but excellent.  TRUST SNAPE!!
I found some character themed outfit posts on tumblr, here's Luna's. THOSE SHOES!

I have the day off work today, and I shall be spending the afternoon cracking on with my crochet blanket and watching some wrestling.  WWE Money in the Bank last Sunday was one of the best PPV's I've seen in a while, and raw was rather good too.  Goodbye CM PUNK.

Wednesday wantings (8)

Wednesday wantings: 8

  1. Blue non-leather jacket
  2. Owl medal brooch
  3. Vegan yarns
  4. Tiger t-shirt
  5. Cupcake mug
  6. Cute hand bags

NEED A NEW HANDBAG!  This may shock some... but I've never owned a handbag!  I've always used tote bags etc, but they're starting to get on my nerves now.  I think this must be something to do with my old age, but I need sections for things!  I can never find my keys or phone when I need them quickly!

(No. 4) The tiger t shirt is from the kids/teen section in New Look.  I get quite a lot from there.  If you're on the shorter side of things it's worth a look at.  Rather cheap too!
I have worn my cheap, New Look (I do go to other shops sometimes, promise), grey, fake leather jacket SO much over the last year.  It's getting a bit battered now.  I like the look of this blue one (No.1) but it doesn't have a hood.  I think I need a hood.

Wednesday wantings (7)

Wednesday wantings: 7

  1. Cabled Cardigan
  2. Neon Hedgehog Jumper
  3. Shark Tshirt
  4. Primary Colour Tights
  5. Teapot Wall Hooks
  6. Denim Shorts/Hot pants
The cardigan (no. 1) is something I'll have to see in real life before I make a final decision.  It says on the website that it's purple and cream... it's clearly not cream, so maybe the photo's bad.
I love the neon jumper (no. 2) but i know for sure I'd never wear it.  It's just too bright for me.  I cant pull it off with my pale skin.  I much more suit duller tones, like the little shorts (no. 6).  I've been watching a lot of Daria lately, it's made me love grungy colours/fashion again.
Those teapot wall hooks (no. 5) would look super in my hall.  Another thing to my 'must buy for when I move' list.

Today is my lovely boyfriend's birthday!  So we'll be doing lots of nice things and eating cake!

Top 5 knits

Are all you knitter's on RAVELRY?  I expect so.
Here are the top 5 things I'm dying to knit at the moment.  All links are to their Ravelry pages.

Cute Rapunzel Hat

I love this hat!  I made a similar one a couple of winters ago, but now i have no idea where it is and it wasn't as cute as this.  Conclusion: make this hat for winter!

Long Cardigan Coat

Even the colour of this cardigan is perfect.  I've had a few faithful knitted cardigan/coats over the years, yet I haven't knitted my own.  This could be the one!  It'll take a really long time to knit though!

Knitted Hoody

I don't have many hand knitted 'proper' clothes, if you know what i mean.  they're mainly accessories or things for round the house.  I'd love to wear something on a weekly basis that i can say i made.  I live in casual clothing, so this hoody is calling out to me!

Sailor top

How sweet is this sailor jumper?  I would totally wear this!  I'd change the sleeves a bit though, and make them tight fitting, rather than loose.  Other than that it's pretty perfect!

Crayon Blanket
I'm currently crocheting a blanket, but how great is this one!?  perfect for a kids room, or even a rug I think!

Vintage Corner

I HAVE A NEW DRESS!  It's vintage, it's cute.... it's pretty much perfect.  Here is the dress hanging on my wall, then a close up of the fabric.

Vintage dress

Close up look

I got it from a shop called Raiders Vintage (in Liverpool) (facebook link).

I also found these vintage knitting and needlework books in a charity shop....

Vintage books!

They'd been given a day to sell, and then they were doomed for recycle... god forbid!  So I rescued them for a bargain price.  They've definitely come to a good home.

I'm not sure if this is old or not, but I have ANOTHER owl teapot.  Really similar to the one I already have, but I got it anyway.  Here is Mrs Hooty (my other one is Mr Hooty):

Mrs Hooty

In knitting news, I've started something new, and it's actually crochet.... not knitting!  A GRANNY BLANKET!  It's granny rows/lines rather than granny squares, and I'm starting it well in advance so it's ready for colder weather.  I love the colours together, and it's washable.

New wool, New blanky!

When I was a child and constantly ill (migraines every darn week) I used to curl up on the sofa with the granny square blanket my lovely nan made for me.  I still have it, but it's looking old and delicate, so i don't like to use it much.  I will keep it forever though.

In the past week I've heard three people discussing Christmas.  I'm really not into Christmas at all, but then I saw this dress....

Xmas dress

....and suddenly I thought 'oh gosh, I need to wear that on Christmas day!'
I know what you're thinking.  It's July (though it was actually June when i got it. even worse), why am I thinking about it?  Answer: I just need it.  So there!

Robi (the boyfriend) got me this cute little owl hand cream:

Owl hand cream... Reese's cool ice cream stuff

Isn't it sweet!?  He does get me good gifts.  Owly now sits under my computer monitor and is currently watching me type.  Thanks rob!  I got this pretty amazing Reese's ice cream sauce from TKmaxx (of all places).  It's sooooo good.

I've been thinking of doing a giveaway.... would anyone be interested in that?
I've got in mind a couple of cross stitch kits, maybe a nice hair bow and a pretty cute craft book that I've got.  Would that be a good prize?  Maybe I'll just do it and see.

Wednesday wantings (6)

Wednesday wantings: 6

  1. Topshop Dino T
  2. Animal print knitted skirt
  3. Doggy door stop
  4. Lego head container
  5. Lego lunch box
  6. Tweety birdy knee highs
I saw the Lego heads (no.4) in the shop window of Utility.  I thought they were just for display or something, but no!  They're actually containers.  They're pretty big... and pretty brilliant! I might have to purchase.
I like the birdy socks (no.6), to go with my birdy tops and my new vintage dress (which I will show off in my next post!)
