A Trip to Purlesque

A couple of days ago I took a trip to my local craft and knitting boutique.  There isn't another shop like Purlesque in Liverpool, it's the best place to get unique buttons and interesting yarns/ribbons/material and other crafty supplies.

Everything is handmade by Jane or Susan.  The shop is located above Pop Boutique on Whitechapel in town.  Deffo worth a look!

I took a few photo's......

Purlesque bunting and vintage teacosy's
Vintage fabric head wear
Window display of button rings and knitted goods.
Fat quarters of fabric

Hand made aprons and pinnies
Lovely yarns, noro etc
Beautiful purses and hair ties
AHHH MICE!

Wednesday wantings (13)

wednesday wantings: 13

  1. Birdy brooch
  2. Dinosaur sweatshirt
  3. Snitch necklace
  4. Whale necklace
  5. Dog print knit jumper
  6. Unicorn locket
Yet another dinosaur related wanting (No. 2).  I never did get the dinosaur tshirt (by tea and cake at topshop), and now they have it out in a jumper/sweatshirt.  The necklines on their clothes are often too tight for me, I never feel right with tight things round my neck.  I might pop into topshop and see it.

Harry Potter related jewelry is always good, sadly I don't own any.  But this snitch necklace (No. 3) is calling out to me.  I think it's a locket too actually, lovely!

Speaking of lockets.... UNICORN LOCKET! (No.6).  I love the style of jewelry that is around at the moment.  Old fashioned looking but with a modern touch to it.  I've ordered a few things from that site before, and never been let down.  This might well be my next purchase.

Autumn knits

For those who don't know... I'm British, so I have rights to moan about the weather....

How strange it the weather at the moment?  One minute it's like winter, the next minute it's hot!  British summer time is rubbish most of the time.  I can't wait till autumn.  I know where I am with autumn... KNITWEAR!
I thought I'd share some of my favourite knitted goods I've found lately.  I have intentions to knit some of them for autumn winter.  All the caption links lead to the RAVELRY page I found them on.

Trapper hat
I love this hat.  I can't pull off red, but I'd make it in green i think.  Looks 100% cozy!

Pooch jump suit
Obviously, my dogs would have none of this!  Plus they're like 4 times the size.... but how cute??

Kitty hand warmers. Prrrrr
These are too sweet.  She's designed sheep ones too.

Winter cardigan
Cardigans are my favourite part of the colder weather.  Hand knitted ones are always the best.  I love the look of this one, but it's knitted in 5ply yarn.  What on earth is that?  I don't think we have that here in the UK.  We have 4ply, then double knit... do we have an in between I never noticed?  What would I knit this with?

Cupcake mittens!
I saved the cutest till last!  CUPCAKE MITTENS!  These look like they're done on very little needles.... so if anyone wants to knit me a little present, this is it please!

Arrietty

I FINALLY GOT TO SEE ARRIETTY!!

For those who don't know, Arreitty is the newest Studio Ghibli film (others include Spirited Away, Ponyo etc).  It was so good!  I have never been to see one in the cinema that is subtitled before, they've usually been shown here dubbed, so it was nice to see it with subtitles... maybe i'll go and see it again when they have dubbed over it with American accents.  The story is based on 'The Borrowers' which I remember being a TV series when I was younger, and the BBC are actually making a new series to be shown this Christmas... Stephen Fry is in it!  (Gonna be good!)

Arrietty
Sho talking to Arrietty

I have two little holidays booked.  I've worked non stop lately, so I can't wait!  Me and Rob are going to see our friend in Aberystwth (in Wales) in a couple of weeks, and then in October I'm going to Harlech (also in Wales) for my dad's 60th birthday.  In case you haven't guessed... WE LOVE WALES!

Hopefully while I'm there I'll get to visit lots of charity shops.  These are my latest charity shop finds in Liverpool:

Two teapots

Two cute teapots.... neither of which are actual teapots.   They have closed up spouts, but that's ok, still cute!

I also found this owl vase in TK Maxx.  I think it'll be my new knitting needle holder.

Before I show off some cute photo's and pictures, I'd like to share something that's annoying me and happening all the time.  This scarf here, as you can see, is KNITTED:

KNITTED SCARF

However, Accessorize (not the only company to make this obvious mistake) claims that it is CROCHET.   WRONGO!  It has the tiniest bit of crochet at each end, but 99% of it is knitted.  I've seen this now in Topshop, New Look and now Accessorize.  I know I'm a knitter and crochet-er, so it's really obvious to me to be able to see/tell the difference.  But it's annoying.

Right, moan over... Here's my dog (Tammy) looking cute after a rainy walkies:

A collection of cute pictures I've seen on tumblr lately (follow me on tumblr)

Looks like me!

Wednesday wantings (12)

Wednesday wantings: 12

  1. Bunny cup
  2. Doggy bag
  3. Deer brooch
  4. Sonic knicks
  5. Dress
  6. Cute ballet pumps
The bunny cup looks rather like my new cross stitch kit coming out, I promise it'll be soon!  I've been working 6 days a week at the moment, so my day off is mainly spent sleeping and doing laundry.
Am I the only one obsessed with anything with animals on?  I'm obviously not, as the shops are full of it all, but how cute is the bag?  Doggies are my favourite!
I have never owned a pair of Irregular Choice shoes... but I have admired them from afar for many years now.  I like how they have more flat shoes at the moment, perfect for work me thinks!

Crafty elbows

I got a new cardigan from H&M (can't show, as it's in the wash!).  It's grey, and it has elbow patches!  As soon as I saw it, i was like 'yesssss! must own elbow patch cardigan.'  Later on that day, I got thinking: 'surely i can just PUT patches on cardigans.'  Seems so obvious now.  I found these cute ones online, good ideas:

Cute heart patch

Floral patches

I also got a new body con skirt, with a safety pin pattern on.  Has anyone else noticed a bit of a change in the quality of H&M clothing?  Mainly their basic t-shirts and slouchy t-shirts.  I've purchased 3 white t-shirts lately, one went really misshapen after one wash (I was everything at 30!) and the other two have a couple of little holes in.  I haven't done anything odd whilst wearing them, I literally just went to the supermarket in one of them... then there's a hole!  Not impressed.

Now then!  I'm so close to having my next cross stitch kit ready.  Here's another teaser for you.... the picture I will be using on the front label:

Bunny in a Cup Cross Stitch Kit

Cute?  It's a bunny in a cup... of course it's cute!  I need to find someone to test stitch it, to make sure I'm giving enough thread, then it's ready to go!

In other news, my green hair has gone.  I miss it.

Wednesday wantings (10)

wednesday wantings: 10

  1. Heart print cardigan
  2. Knitted squirrel jumper
  3. Bunny slippers. aka best slippers ever.
  4. Bow bag
  5. Floral body suit
First of all, I know it's Thursday... I'm a day late, sorry!  Work commitments, as well as sleep commitments, got in the way.

As you can tell, I've gone a bit over board on the topshop wants this week.  They have SOOOO many lovely new items in at the moment.  It's so hard to not spend all my money in one order.  I rather love the green squirrel jumper (no 2)... though they don't look THAT much like squirrels, the colour is lovely though.  Am I the only one who's totally into body suits?  I must wear one nearly every day.  They're the best way to ensure you don't show your knickers when you bend down.  They're great to wear under cardigans and crop t-shirts.  They're great for under floaty tops... I just love them!  However, I don't have a floral one, and it's rather expensive for a body suit, but I might just invest.

OMG the bunny slippers (no 3).  They have pompoms on for god's sake.  They're brilliant.
